Arriving with a craving for Mediterranean food, and greeted by such warm and friendly service, we had to try a bit of everything: We started with the soups(!) - lentil soup and lamb soup. Both were delicious and hearty without being heavy. My only wish is that the weather was colder (dare I say), as either would be the perfect cosy meal! The mixed grill platter was the star of the show! Every meat was cooked tender over charcoal, full of flavour, and the platter was so generous for the price point - especially compared to similar restaurants in Brisbane. In our experience, it was an ample portion to share between at least two hungry people. The sides and salads are worth it. We got to try several dips, which you can just taste are made with love everyday. My favourite was the carrot dip, which had a subtle sweetness, but the eggplant dip and hummus were also exemplary. The pomegranate seeds added a sweet zing to the cabbage salad and the acidity complimented the smoky flavours of the shish - a perfect combo! The Sumak space itself packs in plenty of undercover seating amongst a beautiful leafy pocket so close to the QUT campus! There’s also plenty of street parking available, but during busy periods there is always underground parking across the street at Woollies (2 hours free). Sumak is a must-try!

It was super busy when we arrived (and now I totally get why), but the beautiful staff looked after us right away and had a table ready as quickly as possible! We definitely over-ordered… but honestly, no regrets. We got to take the leftovers home, and every single bite was worth it. The mixed grill was incredible—and hands down had the best Adana I’ve had in Australia. The spinach pide was packed with flavour, and the lahmacun was just perfect: thin, crisp, and so very satisfying....🤤 And the bread they serve with the mains is Out. Of. This. World. For someone who is hard to please, this was a solid 10/10. I'd happily go back multiple times a week if we weren't living an hour away 🤣. Highly recommend!!! P.S. The baklava with the ice cream with Turkish tea was the BEST ending to our night.
